Hard drives and other storage devices may contain data relating to employees or members of the general public. They may also contain confidential Company information. We are fully aware that information contained within storage media is covered by the Data Protection act (1998).
The removal of data from a hard drive or other media cannot be undertaken by simply deleting it. This process will remove the resource fork or link pointing to the file and saying which program will open it. The data will otherwise remain fully intact and can easily be retrieved through the use of specialist software. All drives must have their data destroyed. This is the only way to to ensure data is completely removed from your storage device.
In our new premises we have incorporated a Sanitising unit with the latest Hard Drive Wiping Equipment which has been approved by the UK Government and meets the specified requirements of SEAP (Security Equipment Assessment Panel) for the secure erasure and destruction of information and data stored on magnetic media, our data destruction is undertaken using only SEAP approved data erasing software and a SEAP/NATO approved degausser.
Clients can choose to either erase data and sanitize drives in one pass or to follow the strict Department of Defense standard which requires eight passes in order to perform a reliable hard drive sanitizing operation.
Degaussing
Customers can now have the option to have all Hard Drives degaussed using the latest Magnetic equipment. These machines employ an exclusive magnetic resonance design that insures full-power to the magnetic loop circuit, (magnetic media) for full, deep degauss levels, this will render the hard drive inoperative and Data free, enabling us to send hard drives to a specialist reclamation service using the latest technology and processes to extract all metals from hard drives. We can also us this method for destruction of data on DTL Tapes, Computer Reels, Diskettes,. Please note that this service will incur an extra charge.
